Is it Save or Save As?
Word document programs and photo programs all have the two options of “Save” or “Save As” If you are not paying attention and you click “Save” when you should do a “Save As”… You could lose a file!
And many programs list the two together, so you need to pay attention to make sure to click on the correct one.

Documents….
When you are typing a word document, every so often you’ll click “Save.” The word program will save and add onto the file whatever additional info you typed since the last time you clicked “Save.” This process eliminates the previous document with the new saved one.
Images….
Changing a document is one thing; but changing a high resolution image to a lower resolution and then losing the higher resolution image may not be a good thing. To avoid this, you’ll want to use the “Save As” function.
If you open a 600ppi image in your photo editing program and prepare it for the Internet by changing it to a 72ppi image, you do not want to click the “Save” button. This is when you’ll use “Save As” and create a new file, most likely saving it in a different folder.
By doing so, you’ll now have two image files. One that is 600ppi and another that is 72ppi.
Remember….
“Save” replaces the existing file.
“Save As” creates a new file.
